What is an FSA ID?

The Federal Student Aid ID (or FSA ID) is a username and password that you will need to access all Federal Student Aid websites, such as fafsa.gov, studentloans.gov, nslds.ed.gov.

Do I need an FSA ID?

If you will be completing a FAFSA, or signing as a parent on the studentís FAFSA, yes. Each person will need to have their own unique FSA ID.

What about the PIN?

Effective in May 2015, the PIN number that you previously used to access Federal Student Aid websites can no longer be used. However, when you create your FSA ID, you can link it to that PIN for faster access to FSA websites.

I forgot my FSA ID. Should I create a new one?

NO! If you forgot your FSA ID, or are having issues using it, you will need to call Federal Student Aidís Customer Service center at 1-800-433-3243.
